From Sherry Cask to Whisky Glass with Diego Borrás Thursday, 15th October, 7pm
We’re delighted to welcome Diego Borrás back to Inverurie for a fascinating evening exploring one of whisky’s most important relationships – whisky and sherry.
Join us for an immersive tasting experience as we delve into the wonderful world of sherry, discovering how it is made, what makes the different styles so distinctive, and why sherry casks have played such an important role in Scotch whisky for generations.
Guiding us through the evening will be Diego Borrás, Country Manager for Spain at Malt Bodega. Diego brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and experience to the table, but most importantly, he has a brilliant way of making both sherry and whisky approachable, enjoyable and fun.
Throughout the evening, we'll explore four different styles of sherry, looking at the production methods and flavours that make each one unique.
We'll then move on to three carefully selected whiskies, putting your newfound sherry knowledge to the test as we explore how those flavours transfer from the cask into the finished whisky.
Can you identify the influence of the sherry? Which flavours have carried across? And how does the whisky change depending on the style of cask used?
This is your chance to taste the relationship side by side.
Add a Food Pairing
And because sherry is made for food, you'll also have the option to add specially selected food pairings to your experience.
Simply choose the food pairing option when booking and we'll take care of the rest.
The Venue
The tasting will take place in The Puncheon Tasting Room, our dedicated tasting space within The Foghouse Whisky & Wine Bar in the heart of Inverurie.
Whether you're already a sherry lover, a whisky enthusiast wanting to understand cask influence in greater depth, or simply curious to discover something new, this promises to be a relaxed, informative and thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Join us from 7pm on your own or with a group of friends as we raise a glass to the wonderful world of sherry and its extraordinary relationship with Scotch whisky.
