Little Brown Dog (Petit Chien Brun) Calvados 2018 6 Year Old Arran Whisky Cask 70cl
£69.99
Product Details:
Ok you have questions, we'll get to the label, it takes some explanation. But first the liquid.
Andrew's favourite of the two casks (although it's not easy to pick a favourite here), it's more up front on the apple, bigger Calvados but still incredibly glossy and refined.
You do get the whisky notes here and obviously Andrew was massively biased because, well, it's Arran!
Ok that label. You probably know by now that Andrew and Chris, well especially Chris, are as into WW2 history almost as much as whisky. As such there's a level of geekery that you're going to need to run with for now, but hey it's their company and they'll bottle what and how they like!
The Christian Drouin distillery is just down the road from the Bénouville bridge, but it's more famously known as Pegasus Bridge. This was the first area of France to be liberated on D-Day. On the 6th of June 1944, before helicopters came into service, the glider regiment crash landed wooden gliders, at 90 miles per hour within meters of this bridge and stormed it, taking it for the allies. The Ox and Bucks used the code phrase "Ham & Jam" to announce the success of the mission, that's why that appears on the label and the colours used are representative of the glider and para regiments.
So there you go, an obvious choice for a label....Ok we entertain ourselves.
