Product Details:
Distilled on the rugged north coast of Islay, Staoisha is Bunnahabhain’s heavily peated make, a bold departure from the distillery’s better-known gentle, maritime character.
This 5 year old expression spent its maturation in a first fill Garrison Brothers bourbon barrel, drawing on the scorched oak and Texas influence of one of America’s most decorated whiskey distilleries. The result is exactly what it sounds like: a collision of two worlds, and a compelling one at that.
Cask Type: Garrison Brothers Bourbon Barrel
Limited: 105 Bottles
Official Tasting Notes:
Nose: Medicinal peat smoke and coastal brine, unmistakably Islay, before the first fill American oak opens up with vanilla cream, fresh sawdust, and charred corn.
Palate: Peat smoke rolls in first, earthy and direct, before the bourbon barrel floods the mid-palate with caramel, toasted vanilla, and a citrus brightness. At 64.1% ABV the strength is real, but the heat is never aggressive
Finish: Long, warm, and deeply satisfying: campfire embers, vanilla oak, and a lingering coastal salt.
