The Single Cask Tobermory 24 Year Old
Nose: Malt and flower petals drizzled in lime juice
Palate: Coconut and orange juice leads into green tea, black pepper and lemon.
Finish: Medium with rounded oak and malt sprinkled with sea salt.
Prior to 1993, the wood policy at Tobermory was basically: ‘the cask is made of wood. Wood comes from trees. It’ll be fine.’ That was before Burn Stewart took over. This whisky was distilled in 1995 and put into an ex-bourbon hogshead and left to mature for 24 years, leading to this becoming some pretty special stuff. Tobermory is a whisky that takes time to mature, to develop and evolve nuance and complexity. This one has done exactly that.
