The Smokehead is a modern whisky, what is already shown by its bottle design. Its black and white label as well as the name shall underline its heavy peated character. It is not clear from which distillery this dram stems.
Some say its flavours remind of the companies in the southern part of Islay like Lagavulin, Laphroaig or Ardberg. Others say it is not possible for those distilleries to produce the Smokehead because of their limited capacities.
Nose: Peat is already heavy and fills the whole tumbler. Just little by little it gives space to fruity aromas like citrus, lemon, plum jam and fresh ginger
Palate: Fresh, fruity and immense, with bursts of Sherry, iodine, toffee, smoke and sea salt, all fighting for recognition
Finish: Peaty and becomes slightly peppery. Besides tangy fruits a mellow acridity from the oak casks arises.
