Bottling notes:
This is a unique concept. Blended Whisky finished for 24 months in an Absinthe Cask.
The cask was formerly used to create "The Auld Alliance" which used Scotlands first ever Absinthe, Murmichan in a Speyside Whisky Cask. Continuing with this experiment of flavour, the team at Lost Loch then used this cask to finish whisky.
Delighted with the result and complexity of flavour, they have released a single cask of the spirit, a delight for Absinthe and Whisky drinkers alike.
Cask Type: Absinthe Cask
Limited: 300 bottles
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Big notes of Absinthe in the form of sweet liquorice with lemon cheesecake, some almonds and clove. A whisky background of barley sugar and freshly cut grass.
Palate: Liquorice allsorts and cloves upfront, subsiding to sweeter flavours of honeysuckle, custard cream biscuits and coconut.
Finish: Dry but fairly short. Liquorice lingers but more citrus fruits.
